  We have been twice now and both times have been different experiences. The first time we went was for breakfast with a toddler. Friendly staff greeted us and supplied us with a big table and high chair. We were provided with child options on the menu too. Myself and my partner had the full English of course and it was your typical breakfast. Satisfying and filled us up at a reasonable price.
  
  The second visit was for a quick lunch so we didnt opt for the breakfast menu. We had a chicken omellete and my partner had a chicken curry. Dissapointed with both meals, bland and watery.
  
  Decor needs some updates but for breakfast it is fine. Reasonably priced and friendly staff.

  Cafe 53 is a good stop-off at Bold Street for some decent intake of classic types of dishes, the majority being English and Italian.
  
  The decoration of the cafe is plain and simple: that's really all you need, and not all this modern fancy show-off appearance of many restaurants these days. I like the fact that there is a calm atmosphere, not frantic and that staff are always approachable and patient. It is the sort of place you would come with friends and parents. No frills here and it has a family mood about the place.
  
  All dishes are affordable and value for money. You can't really go wrong with whatever you order.

  Cafe 53 is a no frills sort of cafe, plain and simple good food which has unfortunately been overrun by coffee shops such as Starbucks. The cafe is full of locals droppping in for a bite to eat or a quick cuppa in the middle  of their shopping down funky Bold Street.
  
  The atmosphere is friendly, and the place is so kitch that you almost get a shock when you head back out to the hustle and bustle of Bold Street. The staff are great and will always spend a little time chatting with you no matter how busy they are.  
  
  The food is a good price and yummy. I recommend the English Breakfast and a coffee. The portions are a great size, none of this michelin star - 2 peas and a sprout kind of rubbish. You feel like you're stopping off at a friend's parents or something, it has a mothering air about it.

  It would be very easy, too easy, to start this review with the phrase 'where did the other 52 cafes go' but I won't. I will manfully resist from ever typing out those words. But on to the review.
  
  This little place on Bold Street serves food worthy of your grandma's larder; a well put-together full English breakfast, moist sponge cake and tea so strong it threatens to shatter the mug. Cafe 53 is the perfect antidote to all the chain coffee houses with their indentikit paninis, muffins and tall skinny foam-topped lattes.
  
  You can always be sure of a warm welcome and a genuinely friendly staff. I really do enjoy having a coffee somewhere where they always call you 'love' and want to know what book you're reading  Fantastic stuff.

  Cafe 53 is one of the many places I have been for a hangover cure.
  
  When a friend recommended that we go to Cafe 53 I realised that I have known it was there for a long time but never been in for some reason.
  
  The interior is clean and tidy but a little outdated. The table we were shown to was in a little booth, it was a bit 80's style but comfy enough.
  
  We opted for the all day breakfast and sat back to wait for our food. The cafe was quite busy at the time so we expected a bit of a wait, which is what we had. When the food finally arrived it was placed on our table and the waitress walked away without so much as an "Enjoy your meal".
  
  The breakfast was OK. I've had much better elsewhere but I've also had much worse. Everything was cooked properly and it was tasty but there was nothing that really stuck in my mind about it afterwards, except that I felt better and was no longer hungry.
  
  I haven't been back since as I know of better places on the same road, but I wouldn't avoid it completely in the future if I fancied going elsewhere for a change.
